Always Fall Forward

Always Fall Forward

I was working on a new balance obstacle at training last night (shown in the photo above), which was REALLY getting in my head, because I was afraid of slipping on the moving pipes and falling backwards. My husband changed the game when he looked at me and said, “if you’re going to fall, always fall forward.”

When it comes to a balance obstacle, falling backwards would basically be the worst idea and would pretty much guarantee an injury. Falling forward would mean that I’m able to catch myself, get back up, and keep going.

When I really thought about this, I realized what a huge metaphor it is for all of life.

When you fail forward in any area of your life, you have the opportunity to become better because of your mistakes, instead of letting them stop you.

Things don’t always go as I’d like them to, but this is where I’ve learned to always fall forward and continue to move towards my goals. Failing is simply the opportunity to start over, and it becomes a lesson that you’ve learned that can give you brand new tools to keep going and accomplish whatever it is that you want.

Whether it’s in my training, or just my day-to-day life, I always have a plan for what I want to accomplish, and if that doesn’t work out, I simply adjust my plan and keep moving forward.

The next time you feel like you’re failing in any area of your life, remember to always fall forward so that you can learn from your mistakes. This can truly make ALL the difference!
